Interpretation
Ours is a very diverse region and the needs of our children and families are often complicated with other challenges such as not speaking English. Our donor-supported interpretation services help make receiving services more accessible and easier to understand.
Thank you for helping fund these services- you help make new families feel welcome and supported.
“Use of Hindi language is very helpful, and staff helps a lot.”
“[I have learned] a lot of different strategies for handling kids behaviours, especially thankful to [staff] for providing a lot of strategies and all support.”
“I tell many families that I am learning a lot here.”
“I will suggest to have more groups of these types, specially in the other languages.”
“It was my first time, I felt so nice and will love to attend more.”
– Parents’ written comments from a drop-in parent support group facilitated in Hindi and Punjabi, translated.

One Time Donations
Show your support of life-changing services for children with special needs with a donation- it’s fast and easy to give now by clicking here!
Securities, Investments
Consider a gift of stocks and/or bonds, GICs or other investments (all of which are eligible for tax deductible receipts). It’s one of the most tax-effective ways to support a charity.
When you donate securities directly to a charity, you get a charitable tax receipt for the full fair market value at the time of donation. Plus, you may be entitled to a zero inclusion rate on any capital gains realized on such gifts!
For full details, check with your investment advisor and review updated CRA rules.
Example: If you traded in your investments for cash and donated that cash, you would get a tax receipt for your donation. But you would also have to pay capital gains tax on the increased value of those investments (increased from $1,000 to $4,000 which you cashed out and donated: you’d have to pay tax on the profit of $3,000).
But if you gift eligible shares directly to The Centre, you get a tax receipt for the donation and you may not have to pay capital gains tax.
If you have an investment advisor, they can use this form to facilitate the Securities donation process.
If you prefer to do this on your own, you can start the process by clicking here to fill out our Securities donation form (donation processed through CanadaHelps).

Major Gifts & Pledges
The gifts you pledge today will help support children with special needs in our community. When you wish to make a major gift, we recommend you seek independent legal, financial and tax council. Please have your advisor call us at 604-587-4276 and we would be happy to assist with a major gift and/or pledge.
Endowments

Bequests
Make a gift in your will for a specific sum of money, property or a percentage of your estate’s assets.
The most common types of bequests are:
- Residual bequest: The Centre receives a portion of the remainder of your estate after other specific gifts have been made
- Specific bequest: The Centre receives a specific dollar amount or stated fraction of your estate or a specified gift of property (collections, art, books, real estate, etc.)
- A percentage (or share) charitable bequest: A gift in a will that designates a specific portion of an estate—such as 5%, 10%, half, or more—to be given to a charity. Unlike a fixed dollar amount, this type of bequest adjusts with the size of the estate, offering flexibility and helping ensure that both loved ones and charitable causes receive a fair share.
- Contingent bequest: The Centre would receive a stated share of your estate, but only in the event of the prior death of other named beneficiaries.
- Trust remainder bequest: Named beneficiaries receive income from a trust established in the will. Upon death of the surviving beneficiaries, or at the end of the specified term, all or part of the remaining principal will pass to The Centre.
When you wish to make a bequest gift, we recommend you seek independent legal, financial and tax council. Please have your advisor call us at 604-587-4276 and we would be happy to assist with a bequest gift.

Donations collected by the Child Development Foundation of British Columbia
Charitable Registration #133210229 RR0001
The Child Development Foundation of BC will accept gifts restricted to a specific purpose at The Centre for Child Development of the Lower Mainland, provided The Centre can reasonably utilize the gift. The Foundation applies a fee of 10 percent to all restricted donations. This fee provides the Foundation with increased capacity to raise and grant funds for the treatment of children with special needs, as we strive to advance treatment in this area. The fee also allows the Foundation to cover its administrative costs such as stewardship, granting, and reporting.
If circumstances change and the Foundation reasonably determines it’s impractical to continue to apply a specifically designated gift to its original purpose, the Foundation, in consultation with the donor where possible, may re-allocate the gift to another area while keeping in mind the original intention of the gift.
Therapy, care and support under one umbrella
We provide outpatient medical rehabilitation services to help children reach their potential.
