Casting & Splinting

No Bones About It

Our Casting and Splinting Team
does amazing work!

Casting & Splinting

The Centre makes casts and splints on-site to improve the function of your child’s limbs

On occasion, we’ll make a recommendation for a commercial option or other specialized equipment to increase comfort or prevent deformity.

Our team fabricates custom casts and splints to correctively maintain arms/legs in a certain position and/or to help children overcome activity limitations, such as difficulties with standing and walking.  As children grow and change, our team creates new customized casts/splints to support their development- these could need replacement every few weeks/months depending on the child’s individual progress.

The team includes: an occupational therapist, a physical therapist and a therapy assistant

What do we help with?

  • Customized corrective support for hands/feet
  • Replacement custom supports as children grow and progress

Who’s eligible?

  • Children ages 0-19 living in Surrey, Delta, White Rock or Langley
  • Children currently receiving physiotherapy or occupational therapy or on a waitlist

Referral must be made by one of The Centre’s physical or occupational therapists

Our Approach

The F-words emphasize your child's strengths, interests and your family's values. They remind us to focus on what children CAN do.

They highlight the importance of all the elements of a child's health and well-being, including social relationships and meaningful participation at home, in school, childcare and in the community.

Based on research & built on the World Health Organization's International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health Framework. www.canchild.ca/f-words
