COVID-19 Updates

Covid-19

Thank you to all our families, staff, donors, and community partners

for your ongoing support and patience during difficult times. The pandemic has increased challenges and stresses for everyone, especially for parents and those with additional support needs. Through the pandemic and beyond, our focus continues to be on providing services to our children and families as safely as possible.

Masks

On April 6, 2023, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced changes to the COVID-19 guidance for health care settings. This change included an end to universal masking (BC Government COVID info about Masks and Health Care Settings).

We will continue to make masks available at reception and child care/preschool- there will still be some situations where masks will be required to protect medically-fragile children against respiratory transmitted infections.

Please stay home if you are feeling unwell and wear a mask if you or a family member have any cold or flu symptoms. We ask that you please continue to clean your hands throughout your visit (wash hands with soap, use hand sanitizer).

Thank you for your support, helping us protect the medically-vulnerable children we serve!

Pediatric Vaccination

Starting November 29, 2021, pediatric COVID vaccination is available for BC children aged 5-11. For more information, visit https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/vaccine/children. To register, visit https://www.getvaccinated.gov.bc.ca/s/.

Services

The safety of children and families is of utmost importance to The Centre for Child Development. COVID-19 can be serious for those with underlying health risks, potentially including children who receive services at The Centre.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have followed the latest guidelines from BC’s Public Health Officer, recommendations from government and regulatory agencies and evolving medical information, especially about COVID-19 and children.

As we restrictions ease, we continue to focus on balancing safety with ensuring services are provided in the best and most appropriate method possible. We continue to provide both in-person and virtual services depending on therapy requirements and the needs of the children and families we serve, while maintaining compliance with professional college and government requirements.

Child Care

We have implemented enhanced cleaning protocols, emphasized physical distancing and proper handwashing procedures, and encouraged all to stay home if sick or a family member is sick.

Child Care Options Resource and Referral programs (604-572-8032) are also available to help all families find open preschool and daycare programs.

Therapy, care and support under one umbrella

We provide outpatient medical rehabilitation services to help children reach their potential.
Help support the work we do!
